question.. just want to get general analysis here.. 6 person table..
im wanting to know what the worst hand you would play
on the button, under the gun, and at the BB position.

before i used to play A anything on the button with no raises that is. in a 6 person just figuring odds.. but recently have stiffened my play.. for the last 2 plays. which has brought me more bankroll for this time.. but cards sometimes fall in your favor. so my question is would it be more favorable to stick with being tigher on the button and play premium hands.. to strong middle hands or better odds to play A anything in a 6 man.. (usuallly 3-4 callers)

just curious on the SB and BB hands just to see where you guys stand on that too.. thanks in advance.

In my experience, and I've been playing a lot of 6-max lately, you can play any two cards if you play them right.

In 6-max it's easier to get heads up, and therefore you can push your opponent off any hand that misses very easily. You can also tell when your opponent has a hand he won't surrender fairly easily.

6-max is a great place for floating bets and taking away decently sized pots built through continuation bets. Just bet your semi-bluffs very strongly and do a bit more floating than you might normally do. Raise in position with any two cards to define your opponents' hands. Fold to an obvious bluff once in a while to establish your image as a nut-only player. Based on your post this shouldn't be tough for you.

Calling with weak aces is a mistake, just like it is with any other game. 6-max doesn't make A2any better just because there are fewer opponents, but you still see players play naked aces like they are the NUTZ!

i completely agree on the ace anything.. i watch people raise all the time with it even under the gun.. its rediculous...

ive found ive had a hard time on 9 person tables... i'm not sure where i need to work.. i was playing 9 often and breaking even mostly to bairly building bank.. went to 6 and it just seeemed "easier"...

is 6 person better off for someone who strictly tries to play their cards and not go on how the person is playing (i do this.. but id say i do probably 20 percent of the time .. that is going off how that person has been playing).. online is a new thing to me.. use to just play casinos but got married and moved away from them so here i am.. learning this online thing... if anyone knows a good resource for someone just getting into this.. i understand the game greatly.. but catching tells online has been a bit mistifiying(spelling?) to me...

Full ring is much better if you just want to play your cards and aren't going to be paying close attention to your opponents. With 6-max your hand ranges have to be a lot wider since the blinds come around so fast and you are in position a lot more of the time.

With full ring you do have to be a lot tighter though, hands that play well short handed are often terrible at full ring. If you are playing a lot of low suited cards in FR you will run into higher flushes a lot more often.

The only reason someone would want to play 6-max instead of full ring is to lower the possibility of their opponents having better hands. (Other than the psychological differences of the opponents, which might be a much better reason.)

In other words, most people play 6-max so they can bluff more.

If you're just playing straight up quality based on your cards and so are your opponents, then the only way to make money is to get a good hand and have someone else get a cooler. So you'd better be playing full ring so you have a better chance of that happening. But then again, there's an equal chance of your hand being the cooler.
