Does anyone know what the result would be in this senario:

3 people playing texas holdem
player 1 raises pot $50, player two only has $20 left and says there all in, player three calls player 1's $50 and raises $20. Player 1 decides to fold. Player 2 wins the hand.

Does player 1 or player 3 get their $30 back from player 2 that did not have enough money to match the $50?

Player 3 gets the money, because player 1 had already put the money into the pot and player 2 can't win more from each player than he had to start with.

That being said, with $50 already in and only $20 more to call, player 1 made a terrible fold there

Player three cannot raise a $50 bet only $20 unless he is all-in also. You must raise at least the amount of the previous raise, i.e. If player A raises $50, player C must raise at least $50 more.

In your scenario, player A raises to $50, Player B is all in for $20, Player C raises to $70 total (only if that is all-in) and player A folds, surrendering his $50, $20 of which goes into the main pot ($60) and $30 into the side pot (along with $30 call from player C and the raise from player C, total $80) Player B wins the main pot ($60) and Player C wins the side pot ($80).

If the blinds were $5/10 and someone had raised to $30 that's only a $20 raise and the min raise would be by the same amount to $50, which would also allow for a $20 reraise.

Not saying that's what happened but it's hypothetically possible

Ah, true, I didn't realize we were talking about pre-flop betting.

Hey your best bet is to call, check the hand, there allin could be with any thing, and you don't want to add much to the pot, for them to make a come back....
Un less you have the winning hand... You need to watch out, C-betting can kill you, it has done so with me
