What is a good lead out on the flop? There is only 2 bucks on the flop. Do i over bet, pot size bet it, check raise it or do what i did?

I don't mind the lead out as long as you don't do it every time you have a monster or hit a flop hard. You can do all those things you mentioned in your post as long as you don't do anyone of them every time. I tend to lead 50% of the time with a hand like your and CR 50% depending on the player and reads. I would probably pot the turn and not bet 1/2. It is highly likely the player has an ace and just tripped up. If you bet more on the turn you can extract more on the river as long as he doesn't boat up by hitting his kicker. If you bet $3 on the turn even the pot would be $10 on the river and a $8 bet will get called all day by the villian holding trip aces. The min raise at the end worries me that he did boat up so I would probably only flat call.

Did you lose to A8?

Yeah that was my thought too about the river i knew he had his trips but that damn river... I just sometimes play faster then i am thinking... i do need to slow down and think about my bets. Thanks for the advice...

I would echo what River said. Lead sometimes, c/r sometimes, player dependent. Don't do the same thing every time. If you plan to c/r and it gets checked around and another club comes off, just realize it's a lost opportunity and fold to significant action.

Make real bets, like pot sized bets, for both protection against draws and for value against non-believers with top pair.
