Turn this call into a good choice. please.

Home game
$.25/$.50 blinds, NL
Hold'em

First to act, Me: AA
Raise to $2.50

Third to act, predictable (only plays reasonable hands): call

Fourth: call

Sixth: call

Pot total: $10.75

Flop comes J-5-6 rainbow

I bet $10 (possibly not strong enough)

Third: fold

Fourth: Raise to $30

Sixth: Folds to me

I've played against the other guy enough to be pretty sure he doesn't have a set at this point (all signs say no), so I'm putting him on A-J, or possibly an overpair. It's also VERY possible he's moving with nothing.

I push all-in for $45, he calls, and shows...

5-6 offsuit.

No help... I lose the hand.

My question: is there ANY way to come to the conclusion that his call pre-flop was a good play?

He made a bad call preflop and got lucky. There is no way you should ever be folding aces there. Depending on how passive/aggro the table has been, raising with aces UTG might be a very bad move as it completely gives away the strength of your hand. I would often rather limp and hope to reraise someone preflop with them, unless the table is extremely loose passive, then I would make a ridiculous large raise to something like $5 so if anyone wants to play crap like 56o they have to pay for it.

Absolutely his play was good.

The whole damn table called. Gives odds to just about every hand.

Plus we know nothing about you. You could be a guy who is easily pushed off AK if you miss and you're really easy to read when you do.

There's a million explanations on how this is a good play, especially since this is a home game and people generally have more info on each other in games like that.

If you knew he was going to call, then you should of bet 5.00 preflop, or shove all in.... You want to get as mush as you can preflop as you can.
His play was bad, just think,,,,,, if you would of got trips, or if he missed you would of won a big pot...

True. Bad play there. Just got real lucky. If he keeps playing like that he'll be somebody's fish for sure.
