PokerTracker 3: From the Horse’s Mouth

Over the last two weeks, the online poker world has been buzzing over the release of PokerTracker 3. The software has exploded in popularity and has received overwhelmingly positive reviews. At pokersource.com, we’re dedicated to bringing you the inside scoop on the online poker industry. We interviewed the man behind the poker tracking and analysis software, Derek Charles. Needless to say, it’s been a hectic month of May for Charles and the developers of PokerTracker 3.

So what can you expect from the new version of one of the most popular poker software programs on the planet? Charles explains, “There are many new and improved features in PokerTracker 3, in comparison to PokerTracker 2, that we are very excited about. One of my personal favorite additions is several new stats, such as three-betting, four-betting, floating, donk bets, and more. What really separates PokerTracker 3 from not only PokerTracker 2 but every other product on the market is that the statistical possibilities are endless with the custom stat reports.”

I’ve tried to reach Charles since PokerTracker 3 was released and he’s been an extremely busy man. He commented on the challenges he’s faced since PokerTracker 3 launched to rave reviews: “The biggest challenge thus far, with the recent launch of PokerTracker 3, has been the overwhelming popularity of the software. PokerTracker has been the industry leader with poker software for the past five years now; however, we were still not quite prepared for the enormous response that we have received. Sales volume has been incredibly high and everyone in the online poker industry is contacting us trying to get their hands on the latest and greatest product by PokerTracker.” Memberships to PokerTracker are good for as long as the version is available. Prior to May 15, there had not been a new version of PokerTracker released in five years.

When you offer one of the best programs available, improving your product is often extremely difficult. You have to find a way to innovate. Charles comments on future releases of PokerTracker: “We have a lot of exciting plans for not only PokerTracker 3, but other poker software as well. One feature for PokerTracker 3 that I am really excited about is the ability to have the HUD display stats in the PokerTracker 3 hand replayer. We plan on taking it even one step further and displaying the stats on the table at the precise time that the hand took place so that you can completely recreate every aspect of the hand. This should greatly enhance your ability to learn from previous play and help expedite the entire learning process.”
