There is four people left in a tournament.Player 1 is the dealer player 2 sb
player 3 bb player 4 is first to act and limps in as does the dealer sb limps in an bb checks. The flop is dealt player4 bets player one calls both sb and bb fold. The turn is dealt player 4 check player1 bets player 4 calls river is dealt player4 checks player 1 bets enough to put player 4 all in player 4 calls the all in. Now the problem is at the showdown player 4 flips his two cards over an has a pair of 4's with a K kicker. Player 1 goes too flip his cards an only has one card which is a 7 which he has a pair of 7's and best hand but doesn't have his second card. Some how when he was dealing he had moved/lost his second card. All players had seen him look at two cards before the flop so we know that he did have two cards. My question is how should this be ruled. Does player 1 win with just the one card or should it be mucked. Any help is welcome

I believe that in a casino tournament the hand would be ruled dead. In a home game though, I don't see why he shouldn't be awarded the pot.

Thanks KoRnholio for your reply. I did reward the pot to him. Part of the deal is that this is a league that i run at 2 different places. An it needs to be added to our rule book. So i'm thinking for the rules i should rule the hand dead. This has never happen in the 5 years i have been running leagues. It would be nice to have a dealer full time for our tables but that really isn't an option think this wouldn't have happen then. Thanks again for your reply :D

If he only has one card his hand is dead. This usually only happens once to most people, then they learn to protect their hand better.
