I was playing on party poker's bad beat jackpot. I was bored of losing my money, so i decided to stand up and leave. Little did I know it, 2 minutes later the jackpot was hit on the table I just left. :x

Can you explain how this bad beat jackpot works? I've seen it, just never gave it more than a glance.

Bad beat jackpots are slightly different everywhere, but basically they work like this.

At the B&M casino I play at, in 3/6 Hold 'Em, $1 is raked from every pot over a certain amount and put into a jackpot. If anyone gets Aces full of Jacks or better and loses, they get 50% of the bad beat jackpot. The winner of the hand gets 25% of the jackpot, and the rest of the table splits the remaining 25%. The pot has to be above a certain amount, and the loser has to use BOTH of his hole cards.

Most of the online places have much HIGHER standards for a bad beat, usually 4 of a kind.

I was lucky enough to be at a table in Kansas City when the bad beat happened. My table share was $409.

So are you automatically qualified for the bad beat jackpot while your playing in an online room, or are there specific bad beat tables?

Depends on the room. The ones I have seen are usually just the $2/4 tables and the $3/6 tables, maybe higher. Certainly not lower, they want to have incentives for player higher limits.
